Well, once again, the Super Bowl has come and gone. The long anticipation of the 2011-2012 season led us to the World Champion New Giants. Congratulations to Eli and Company for the exciting win in the 4th quarter.
This doesn’t, however, mean that all football stops. Indeed not. Now kids of all ages, including those “older kids” of 30 or 40 or even 50 years old, are now
throwing footballs with their fathers, their brothers, their friends, and their sons. Alabama Rolls Past LSU in BCS Championship Game

Well, the Alabama Crimson Tide beat LSU in the BCS Championship game. It was not my desired outcome, but the good news is that an SEC team won the National Championship proving it’s dominance once again in College football. That makes 6 National Championships in a row for the SEC. Alabama played a stout defense shutting out the LSU Tigers.
The crowd was wild and crazy. The energy was high, typical of any College Football Championship game. There were thousands of Pom Poms waving in the crowd as well as many other spirit items, the majority of them were Crimson and Red. I have a hard time uttering the words, “Congratulations Alabama,” however, I have no problem whatsoever saying, “GO SEC!!” Will next year be another win for the SEC? I hope so.
Now there will be lots of spirit items such as mini footballs in Crimson and Red floating around and Championship T-Shirts that we will see Alabama fans wearing for years come.
Syracuse Still Number 1 in College Basketball

Syracuse is holding their #1 spot for the 5th week in a row with Kentucky right on their heels. But the question is, “Can they hold on to the top spot?” Well, according to their schedule they should easily be able to win their games over the next few weeks since their schedule is so weak. Kentucky, on the other hand, has a bit tougher schedule coming up, so if Kentucky wins their next few games too, will it be enough merit topping Syracuse in the polls? We shall see soon.
I’ve seen plenty of fans from the games on television banging thundersticks and waving pom poms. It reminds me of my college days when I use to attend all of the home basketball games at Mississippi State University. Fun times.
