Upselling is a technique of convincing a buyer to “upgrade” to a more expensive product, model, or service. This is frequently used by companies and sales people to generate more profits. This is a smart selling technique if used properly. However, it can also be used in a maleficent way.
It happens in all industries. Sales people upsell customers to more expensive cars, houses, lawn services, and promotional products even when those customers don’t NEED or benefit from the upgrade.
